Liberty Mutual Glass Claim in Georgia: Your Deductible

Liberty Mutual says your glass deductible can differ from your full auto deductible. How to file a Liberty Mutual windshield claim in Georgia.

Here is a Liberty Mutual detail that surprises people. According to Liberty Mutual’s own help page, “your glass repair deductible is actually different than your full auto deductible.” So the number you remember from your policy, the one you pay after a fender bender, may not be the number that applies to your windshield. The page says you can log in to see your policy’s glass deductible.

We are Executive Auto Glass, a fully mobile auto glass company based in Cumming in Forsyth County. We have been in business since 2009. This guide is for Liberty Mutual customers in the north Atlanta suburbs who want to understand how a glass claim works. We are not Liberty Mutual, and we cannot read your policy for you. We link to Liberty Mutual’s pages so you can check each point.

How Liberty Mutual says to file a glass claim

On its frequently asked questions page, under glass repair claims, Liberty Mutual says to start by filing an auto glass claim online. You will need your policy number and phone number handy, plus simple information about how and when the damage first happened.

From there, the page says Liberty Mutual will set you up with a Safelite auto glass expert in your area. Liberty Mutual’s claims center also has a “File an auto glass claim” link in its menu.

So the Liberty Mutual path is online first, and it leads to Safelite. We know that is the default. The next question is whether you can use someone else.

Can you choose your own shop with Liberty Mutual?

The glass section of the help page does not answer that question, and we will not guess for Liberty Mutual. But Liberty Mutual’s general auto claims FAQ, which is written about vehicle damage repairs, makes a broad statement: “the choice of repair shops is always yours, and you are under no obligation to use a recommended repair service.”

That statement sits in the collision repair section, next to Liberty Mutual’s Guaranteed Repair Network. It is not a glass rule. We read it as a sign of how Liberty Mutual talks about shop choice, and we would not treat it as a promise about glass. So the honest advice is to ask.

When you file, or when the Safelite expert contacts you, say: “I would like Executive Auto Glass to do the work.” Then ask two things:

  • “Will Liberty Mutual still handle the claim if I use my own shop?”
  • “What do I pay, and what do you pay?”

Give them our number. We are a preferred insurance vendor for all major insurance companies. We will not tell you that Liberty Mutual recommends us or that we are in its network. We do not claim that. If you would rather not make the call, give us your insurance information and the details of the damage, and we file the claim for you.

Georgia’s agencies back up asking first. The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance tells drivers in its auto claim tips to know their company’s policy on qualified repair shops. The state’s consumer protection website says insurers differ on shops: some suggest one, others ask for several estimates. Those pages are about repair work in general, not glass only.

Finding your glass deductible

This is the most useful tip in the Liberty Mutual page. It says your glass repair deductible is different from your full auto deductible, and that you can log in to view your policy’s glass deductible and understand what you will pay out of pocket.

We cannot tell you the number. It is yours to look up. Here is how to use it:

  • A chip. Our chip repair is a flat $85 for up to 3 chips on the same windshield, mobile service included. Compare that with the glass deductible on your policy. If the deductible is higher than $85, filing may cost you more than paying us directly. If the deductible is lower, or your policy handles repairs differently, filing may make sense. Ask Liberty Mutual.
  • A replacement. The Liberty Mutual page says “glass repair deductible.” It does not say how a replacement is treated, so ask. We give a free estimate from your VIN. Put it beside your number.
  • If the estimate is lower than the deductible, filing does not help you, and we will say so.

Our page on whether insurance covers a windshield walks through the basics for every insurer.

Step by step: a Liberty Mutual glass claim

Here is the order we suggest for a driver in Cumming, Dawsonville, Alpharetta or anywhere else we serve.

  1. Photograph the damage. One photo from inside, one from outside, and a coin next to a chip.
  2. Log in and check your glass deductible. Do this before you file.
  3. Gather what the claim needs. Liberty Mutual asks for your policy number, your phone number, and simple information about how and when the damage happened.
  4. Find your VIN. We need it to quote a replacement. One vehicle can have up to about 15 windshield versions by option package.
  5. File the auto glass claim online through Liberty Mutual’s claims center.
  6. Name your shop. Tell Liberty Mutual or the Safelite expert you want Executive Auto Glass, and give them our number.
  7. Text us your claim details. Send the photo and any claim number.
  8. Book the visit. We come to your home or workplace. We are fully mobile, with no shop and no walk-in.
  9. Keep your paperwork. Save the claim number and the final invoice.

If you would rather skip the forms, we can file the claim for you. We need your insurance information and the details of the damage.

What to do when the damage is small

A chip is the easiest glass problem to solve and the easiest to make worse. A chip smaller than a quarter that sits outside the driver’s line of sight is a good candidate for repair. A crack that runs to the edge of the glass, or damage right in front of the driver, usually means replacement. More than 3 chips on the same windshield, and we usually recommend replacement.

Do not trust a rule of thumb for yours, though. Text us a photo and we will tell you what we see.

Georgia does not help you wait. Warm afternoons and cool nights flex the glass, and a drive on GA-400 or a bumpy back road in Forsyth County can push a small chip into a long crack. Start with windshield repair for a chip. For a crack, see windshield replacement.

Glass type, warranties and the dealer

We install OEM, OEE (original equipment equivalent) and aftermarket glass, so you can choose, and we have a fallback when one type is not available. What Liberty Mutual pays for is a question for Liberty Mutual, so ask when you file.

Our workmanship warranty lasts for the life of the vehicle. Our technicians are graduates of the Equalizer Auto Glass Academy and are DuPont adhesive certified, and our founder holds an automotive engineering degree.

If your car has a camera behind the windshield, we do not do ADAS camera calibration. After a replacement on a car that needs it, we refer the calibration to the dealer. Manufacturers recommend dealer calibration, and makers require a controlled indoor space, which cannot be done mobile.

We also do door glass, quarter glass and back glass, each with a free estimate by vehicle. See door glass replacement for the side window. A customer review confirms we reconnect rear defroster connections on back glass jobs.
