Filing a State Farm Windshield Claim in Georgia
How a State Farm glass claim works in Georgia: three ways to file, who handles it, what to ask about your shop, and how we can file the claim for you.
A rock bounces off a truck on GA-400, and now there is a star in your windshield. You carry State Farm, so the next question is simple: what do I do first? This guide walks through how a State Farm glass claim works, what State Farm says on its own website, and where we fit in.
We are Executive Auto Glass, a mobile auto glass company based in Cumming. We have been in business since 2009, and we work with State Farm customers across Forsyth County and the north Atlanta suburbs. We are not State Farm, and we cannot tell you what your policy pays. What we can do is show you the steps and the questions worth asking.
What is different about State Farm glass claims
State Farm does not run glass claims through its regular claim line the way it handles a fender bender. On its windshield repair and glass claims page, State Farm says glass claims go through Safelite Solutions LLC, which it calls its “third-party glass program administrator.”
That detail matters. When you file, you are often talking to a claims administrator, not to your local State Farm office. The administrator checks your coverage, sets up the claim, and helps you pick a shop.
State Farm’s page also says it covers both windshield repairs and replacements, depending on the extent of the damage. And it says your deductible may apply. That last line is the one to watch, so we come back to it below.
The page also gives a tip we agree with. Before you file, check your policy to confirm you are covered for glass. Glass usually falls under the comprehensive part of a policy. If you carry only liability, there is nothing to file. Our general page on whether insurance covers a windshield explains that split in more detail.
Three ways to file with State Farm
According to State Farm’s glass page, you have three options:
- File online through State Farm.
- Contact your State Farm agent.
- Call Safelite Solutions LLC at 888-624-4410. (State Farm lists a different number for Massachusetts policyholders, so Georgia drivers use the first one.)
Most people we talk to start in their insurer’s app or website because it is already on their phone. If you would rather not sit on hold or fill out forms, there is a fourth route that is ours: hand us the details and we file the claim for you.

Can you pick your own shop with State Farm?
This is the question we hear most. Here is what State Farm itself says. On the same page, it tells customers to “choose the vendor you prefer from a network of repairers who meet our quality standards.”
So State Farm frames the choice as a choice among network shops. It does not spell out, on that page, what happens if you want a shop that is not on its list.
Georgia’s own consumer guidance is a little broader but also a little vague. The state’s consumer protection website says that some insurance companies suggest a particular shop, while others require you to get several estimates. That page is about body shops after a collision, not glass, but the lesson carries over: insurers differ, so read your own policy. The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance gives the same advice in its auto claim tips. It tells drivers to be familiar with their company’s policy on qualified repair shops.
Here is how we handle it. If you want us to do the job, tell State Farm so when you file, and give them our number. We are a preferred insurance vendor for all major insurance companies. We will not tell you State Farm recommends us, because we have no way to say that. And before any work starts, ask your claim rep one plain question: “If I use Executive Auto Glass, what do I pay, and what do you pay?” Get the answer in writing if you can. If the answer is unclear, call us and we will help you sort it out.
The deductible question, plainly
State Farm says your deductible may apply. We cannot tell you your deductible, because it is printed on your own policy. Look at your declarations page or open the State Farm app. Find the line for comprehensive.
Here is how that plays out in real life:
- A chip. Chip repair is a flat $85 with us, for up to 3 chips on the same windshield, mobile service included. If your comprehensive deductible is higher than $85, filing may cost you more than paying us directly. If your policy covers chip repair differently, ask State Farm before you decide.
- A crack or a big impact. Replacement pricing depends on your vehicle, so we quote it from your VIN. Compare that quote to your deductible. If the quote is lower than the deductible, filing does not help you.
- A cracked windshield you have been driving on. Do not wait. Cracks grow with every bump and every cold morning, and a chip that was cheap to fix becomes a replacement.
The amount is whatever your policy says. If State Farm tells you something that does not match what you read, ask them to point to the policy language.
Step by step: filing a State Farm glass claim
Here is a plain order of operations that works for most drivers around Cumming, Dawsonville, Alpharetta and the rest of our area.
- Take photos. Shoot the damage from inside and outside. Put a coin next to a chip so the size shows.
- Find your VIN. We need it to quote a replacement, because one vehicle can have up to about 15 windshield versions depending on its option package.
- Check your policy. Confirm you have comprehensive and note your deductible.
- Choose how to file. Online, with your agent, or by calling 888-624-4410. Or send us the details and we file for you.
- Say which shop you want. Tell State Farm you would like Executive Auto Glass, and give them our number.
- Ask what you owe. Get the deductible and any limits on glass type before you agree to anything.
- Book the work. We come to your home or workplace. We have no shop and no walk-in.
- Keep your paperwork. Save your claim number and the final invoice.
If your windshield has a camera behind it, say so. Some cars need camera calibration after a replacement. We do not do calibration. We refer it to the dealer, because manufacturers recommend dealer calibration, and makers require a controlled indoor space that a mobile job cannot offer.
What glass will be used?
Many drivers worry that insurance means the cheapest glass. We install OEM, OEE (original equipment equivalent) and aftermarket glass, so you can choose, and we have a fallback when one type is not available.
What your policy pays for glass type is a question for State Farm. Some policies pay for one kind and not another, and we will not guess. Ask the rep, then tell us what they said, and we will tell you what that means for your vehicle.
Our workmanship warranty lasts for the life of the vehicle. Our technicians are graduates of the Equalizer Auto Glass Academy, they are DuPont adhesive certified, and our founder holds an automotive engineering degree. Those are facts about our work, not about State Farm.
What happens after you file
Keep your claim number handy. Then it is simple. We come to you. We replace or repair the glass at your driveway, your office lot, or wherever you park in Cumming, Forsyth County or one of the nearby towns we serve. We do not give job times here, because they depend on the vehicle, but we are happy to tell you when we confirm your appointment. We reply within an hour during business hours, which are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday by appointment.
Payment depends on your claim. If you owe a deductible or anything your policy does not cover, we take cash, check, credit or debit, Venmo, Zelle and Cash App.
If it is a chip, read about windshield repair first. If it is a crack, see windshield replacement. Either way, a free quote from your VIN or a photo is the best first step.
Questions State Farm customers ask us
Do I have to file a claim at all? No. Many people pay us directly, especially for a chip. Filing is your choice.
Does a glass claim hurt my rates? We cannot speak for State Farm’s pricing. Ask State Farm directly before you file if that worries you.
Can I use Executive Auto Glass if I already filed with Safelite Solutions? Call us with your claim number. We will tell you what we can do. We cannot promise how State Farm will respond, so ask your rep as well.
What if I already paid for a repair? Keep the invoice and ask State Farm about reimbursement. Do not assume it is covered.
A State Farm glass claim is not hard once you know who is on the other end of the phone. Take the photos, find the VIN, check your deductible, and tell State Farm which shop you want. Then call or text us with a photo and we will take it from there. Request a free quote and we will get back to you within the hour during business hours.
