Travelers Glass Claim in Georgia: Chips and Cracks
Travelers says you can choose any repair shop and that chip and crack repairs generally carry no deductible. How to file a Travelers glass claim in Georgia.
Travelers makes two points on its auto glass page that matter to drivers. It says you can choose any repair shop, and it says “you won’t have to pay your deductible for the repair of chips or cracks to your auto glass.” Notice the second half: cracks, not just chips. If you carry Travelers and live around Cumming, that changes how long you should wait.
We are Executive Auto Glass, a fully mobile auto glass company based in Cumming, Georgia. We have worked on glass since 2009. This post is for Travelers customers in Forsyth County and the north Atlanta suburbs who want to understand a glass claim. We are not Travelers, and we cannot read your policy for you. Each Travelers point below comes from Travelers’ own guide, linked so you can check it.
What Travelers says about shops and repair
The Travelers auto glass and windshield repairs guide says you can choose any repair shop. It adds that Travelers has partner vendors who handle the claim and guarantee their repairs for as long as you own the vehicle. If the shop you choose is not a partner, the page says Travelers will contact you with next steps.
That is a clear, fair statement, and we like it. You can use a partner. You can use another shop. Either way, Travelers is still part of the conversation.
The same page says most repairs can be done at your home or work, though some vehicles or damage may require going to the vendor’s facility. That is Travelers’ description of its partners’ service. For our work, we are fully mobile. We come to your home or workplace. We have no shop and no walk-in.
We will not say Travelers recommends us or that we are one of its partner vendors. We are not claiming that. We are a preferred insurance vendor for all major insurance companies. If you choose us, tell Travelers, give them our number, and expect them to contact you with next steps.
Georgia’s state agencies suggest the same habit. The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance says in its auto claim tips to know your company’s policy on qualified repair shops. The state’s consumer protection website adds that insurers differ on shops: some suggest one, others require several estimates. Those pages are about repair work in general, not glass only.
The deductible lines worth reading twice
Here is what the Travelers guide says about money:
- Chip or crack repairs generally have no deductible.
- If a repair fails and replacement is needed, a deductible will likely apply.
- Some policies have a lower deductible or none for glass claims.
- To check your own deductibles, log into MyTravelers, pick your Auto policy, and open Policy Documents.
Read the second bullet again. If a repair does not hold and you need a replacement, the page says a deductible will likely apply. So repair is not a free pass. It is the best first try when the damage allows it.
We cannot say what your policy covers. Open MyTravelers and look. Then ask Travelers one plain question when you file: “Does my policy have a different deductible for glass?”
For the broader picture, see our page on whether insurance covers a windshield.
What Travelers says is repairable
The guide gives a simple picture of damage that can likely be repaired: chips about the size of a quarter, cracks about the size of a dollar bill, and damage outside the driver’s primary viewing area. Damage beyond those limits may require replacement.
We use the same kind of test, and we like it because anyone can do it in a driveway. Hold a quarter over the chip. Lay a dollar bill beside the crack. Note where the damage sits compared with your line of sight.
Our own rule of thumb: a chip smaller than a quarter that sits outside the driver’s line of sight is a good candidate for repair. More than 3 chips on the same windshield, and we usually recommend replacement. But a photo tells us more than any rule. Text us a picture and we will tell you what we see.
Chip repair with us is a flat $85 for up to 3 chips on the same windshield, mobile service included. See windshield repair for how it works.

How to file a Travelers glass claim
On the Travelers guide, individuals report a glass claim online through the Travelers glass claim portal. Business customers call 1.800.238.6225.
Here is the order we suggest for a driver in Cumming, Dawsonville, Alpharetta or anywhere else we serve:
- Photograph the damage. One from inside, one from outside, with a quarter or a dollar bill beside it for scale.
- Check your deductible. Log into MyTravelers, open your Auto policy, and look in Policy Documents.
- Gather your VIN. We need it to quote a replacement. One vehicle can have up to about 15 windshield versions by option package.
- Report the glass claim through the Travelers portal.
- Tell Travelers who you want. If you choose Executive Auto Glass, say so and give them our number.
- Text us your claim details. Send the photo and any claim number.
- Book the visit. We come to you.
- Keep your paperwork. Save the claim number and the final invoice.
If you would rather skip the portal, we can file the claim for you. We need your insurance information and the details of the damage.
If the work is already done
Travelers’ guide covers this too. If the work is finished, you can email your invoice along with proof of payment, or upload them to your assigned claim representative if you have one.
This helps when you did not want to wait on a chip. Say a stone hit your glass on GA-400 and you paid us right away. Keep the invoice. Ask us for an itemized copy that shows the work and the amount, and keep proof of payment. We take cash, check, credit or debit, Venmo, Zelle and Cash App, so proof of payment is easy to keep.
We cannot promise what Travelers will pay back. That depends on your policy. When you can, ask before the work. A short question at the start beats a hard question at the end.
Replacement, glass type and the dealer
When the damage is too big to fill, you are in replacement territory. Replacement pricing depends on your vehicle. We give a free estimate from your VIN. Compare it with your deductible. If the estimate is lower than the deductible, filing does not help you, and we will say so.
We install OEM, OEE (original equipment equivalent) and aftermarket glass, so you can choose. We have a fallback when one type is not available. What Travelers pays for is a question for Travelers, so ask when you file. For how we work on a replacement, see windshield replacement.
We also do door glass, quarter glass and back glass, each with a free estimate by vehicle. See door glass replacement for the side window. A customer review confirms we reconnect rear defroster connections on back glass jobs.
If your car has a camera behind the windshield, we do not do ADAS camera calibration. After a replacement on a car that needs it, we refer the calibration to the dealer. Manufacturers recommend dealer calibration, and makers require a controlled indoor space, which cannot be done mobile.
Why waiting costs more
Travelers says repair of chips and cracks generally carries no deductible. That sets up a simple lesson. Damage that can be repaired should be repaired before it turns into damage that cannot.
Georgia does not help you wait. Warm afternoons and cold nights flex the glass. A long drive on GA-400 or a bumpy back road in Forsyth County can push a crack along.
So we say it plainly: when you see a chip or a short crack, take a photo and send it. We reply within an hour during business hours, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday by appointment.
