USAA Windshield Claim in Georgia: How It Works

USAA says you have a right to select the glass shop of your choice. How a USAA windshield claim works in Georgia, plus what to do if you already paid.

Most insurers tell you which shop to call. USAA’s glass page says something different: “You have a right to select the glass repair shop of your choice.” If you are a USAA member in Forsyth County or the north Atlanta suburbs, that sentence is worth knowing before you file.

We are Executive Auto Glass, a fully mobile auto glass company based in Cumming, Georgia. We have been in business since 2009. This post covers how a USAA glass claim works, what USAA says on its own website, and how we can help. We are not USAA, and we cannot read your policy for you. We link to USAA’s pages so you can check every point yourself.

What USAA says about choosing a shop

Here is the full thought from USAA’s windshield and glass claims page: “You have a right to select the glass repair shop of your choice.”

The same page also describes a “trusted alliance with Safelite AutoGlass.” USAA says that alliance offers online scheduling, mobile repairs and a lifetime guarantee on repair and replacement. That is USAA’s offer. It sits next to your right to choose, not in place of it.

So you have two paths. You can use the route USAA describes, or you can pick your own company. If you pick us, give USAA our number when you file. We are a preferred insurance vendor for all major insurance companies.

We will not say USAA recommends us. USAA names Safelite on that page, and we say so plainly. What we offer is local, mobile work from a team that has been fixing glass since 2009. Our workmanship warranty lasts for the life of the vehicle, and our technicians graduated from the Equalizer Auto Glass Academy.

Georgia agencies point the same way on reading your own terms. The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance tells drivers in its auto claim tips to know their company’s policy on qualified repair shops. Georgia’s consumer protection website notes that insurers differ on shops: some suggest one, others ask for several estimates. Those pages are about collision repair, not glass only, but the habit helps. Read first, then book.

How to file a USAA glass claim

On USAA’s glass page, you start on usaa.com or in the USAA Mobile App. You give details about your vehicle and the damage, then choose an appointment time and location.

Here is how we suggest a USAA member around Cumming handles it:

  1. Photograph the damage. One from the inside, one from outside, and a coin next to a chip.
  2. Check your coverage. Glass usually sits under comprehensive. Look at your policy for your deductible.
  3. Find your VIN. We need it to quote a replacement. One vehicle can have up to about 15 windshield versions by option package.
  4. Start the claim on usaa.com or in the app. Give the vehicle and damage details.
  5. Say who you want. If you choose Executive Auto Glass, tell USAA and give them our number.
  6. Ask what you owe. Ask whether a deductible applies to your damage.
  7. Send us the claim details. Text us the photo and your claim number.
  8. Book the visit. We come to your home or workplace. We are fully mobile, with no shop and no walk-in.

If you do not want to deal with the forms, we can file the claim for you. We need your insurance information and the details of the damage.

What USAA says about cost and deductibles

USAA’s page keeps this short. For repairs, it says you may pay nothing, depending on your coverage. For a replacement, it says “you may have to pay your deductible.” If you are not sure what your deductible is, the page tells you to check your policy.

We cannot tell you what you will owe. That is between you and USAA. But here is how to use the two facts:

  • A chip. Our chip repair is a flat $85 for up to 3 chips on the same windshield, mobile service included. If USAA covers your repair at no cost to you under your policy, filing makes sense. If you are not sure, ask before you book. If you would rather pay us directly, that works too.
  • A crack that spread. That usually means replacement. Replacement pricing depends on the vehicle, so we quote from your VIN. Send it, and we give you a free estimate.
  • Compare two numbers. Put our estimate beside your deductible. If the estimate is lower, filing does not help you. We will say so.

For the general picture, read our page on whether insurance covers a windshield. If you want to see what a replacement involves, see windshield replacement.

What if you already paid for the repair?

USAA’s page has a section many members miss. If you already paid for a glass repair, you can submit a reimbursement request. USAA says you will need to give the vehicle involved, the amount you paid, and the shop’s name and phone number.

That is useful for a chip. Say you saw a star in the glass on your way to work in Alpharetta, and you did not want to wait on a claim. You sent us a photo, we repaired it, and you paid us. If your policy allows, you can ask USAA for reimbursement after the fact.

A few cautions from us:

  • Keep the invoice. Ask us for an itemized copy that shows the shop name and phone number.
  • Ask USAA before you pay if you can. Reimbursement depends on your policy. We cannot promise what USAA will pay back.
  • Do not wait on a chip. Cracks spread when the glass flexes in cold weather and on rough roads. A chip that costs $85 to repair can become a replacement later.

We take cash, check, credit or debit, Venmo, Zelle and Cash App, so paying us directly is simple when that is the better choice.

Chip, crack or door glass: what we do

We work on cars, trucks, SUVs and vans. Our services are windshield replacement, windshield chip repair, door glass replacement, quarter glass replacement and back glass replacement.

For a chip, read about our windshield repair. As a rule of thumb, a chip smaller than a quarter that sits outside the driver’s line of sight is a good candidate. More than 3 chips on the same windshield, and we usually recommend replacement. A photo from you is the best way for us to give you a straight answer.

If it is the side window, see door glass replacement. Door, quarter and back glass each get a free estimate based on your vehicle. A customer review confirms we reconnect rear defroster connections on back glass jobs.

Glass type and the dealer

We install OEM, OEE (original equipment equivalent) and aftermarket glass, so you can choose. We have a fallback if one type is not available. What USAA will pay for is a question to ask USAA when you file, and we will help you understand the answer.

If your car has a camera behind the windshield, we do not do ADAS camera calibration. After a replacement on a car that needs it, we refer the calibration to the dealer. Manufacturers recommend dealer calibration, and makers require a controlled indoor space, which a mobile visit cannot offer.

Who we serve around Cumming

We come to you. That means your driveway in Cumming, your office lot in Alpharetta, Roswell or Sandy Springs, and your house in Dawsonville, Buford, Sugar Hill or Suwanee. We also serve Dahlonega, Ball Ground, Gainesville, Oakwood, Flowery Branch, Braselton, Duluth, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, Lilburn, Snellville, Dacula, Johns Creek, Milton, Dunwoody, Chamblee, Doraville and Brookhaven.

GA-400 sends a lot of gravel and rocks into windshields, and Forsyth County has plenty of construction trucks. That is why chips are so common here, and why we say the same thing to every USAA member: deal with a chip while it is still a chip.

We reply within an hour during business hours, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday by appointment. We are rated 4.9 on Google from 110 reviews.
