What Changes the Cost of Quarter Glass Replacement?
You want a number, and so does everyone who calls about quarter glass. We do not post a flat price, because the honest price depends on a few specific things. Here is what they are.
There is no single price. It depends on your vehicle, the glass, and your coverage. The estimate is free.
The biggest factor is the vehicle. Quarter glass is not one part. A sedan, a minivan, a pickup extended cab and a luxury SUV all use different pieces, and even two trims of the same model can differ. That is why we ask for the VIN. It tells us the exact piece your vehicle was built with. A price from a website that does not know your VIN is a guess, and we would rather not guess.
Next is the glass type. Most quarter glass is tempered. Some vehicles use laminated glass, and some pieces have a factory darker shade for privacy or are shaped with extra features. A laminated or specialty piece is a different part from a plain tempered one, and that can change the number. The stamp in the lower corner of the window tells you what type you have, and the VIN tells us for sure.
Third is how the glass is built into the vehicle. Some quarter glass is a plain piece set in with adhesive. Other pieces come encapsulated, which means the glass has a molded frame or trim attached to it. The frame can be part of the glass part, which changes what has to be ordered. Some quarter windows also open, and a moving piece is a different part from a fixed one. Tell us when you text, and we confirm we can handle the exact piece.
Fourth is the glass source. We install OEM, OEE and aftermarket glass, so you get a choice. OEM is made by or for the carmaker, OEE is original equipment equivalent, and aftermarket is made by other manufacturers. They can be priced differently, and we have a fallback when the one you want is not available. We would rather tell you the options than pick for you.
Last is insurance. Quarter glass is part of a comprehensive claim on many policies, with your deductible applying, and some policies include glass coverage that applies to side windows. If your deductible is higher than the job, filing may not help, and we say so. We are a preferred insurance vendor for all major insurance companies. You can give your insurer our number when you file, or we can file the claim for you if you give us the information.
The way to get a real number is simple. Text us a photo of the broken window and your VIN. The estimate is free, and we come to you.
What moves the number
- Your exact vehicle, found from the VIN
- Glass type: tempered, laminated or a specialty piece
- Encapsulated or plain, and fixed or opening
- OEM, OEE or aftermarket, and what is available
- Whether insurance covers it and your deductible
We do not publish a flat price for quarter glass, because the right number depends on the factors above. The estimate is free, and it is for your vehicle. Text us a photo and your VIN. The estimate costs nothing.
Questions Drivers Ask
Why will you not just give me a price over the phone?
Because the same model can use different glass by trim and options, and a wrong number helps nobody. With the VIN, the estimate is for your car.
What does encapsulated mean?
It means the glass comes with a molded frame or trim attached to it, instead of being a plain pane. It is a different part, so it changes what gets ordered and what the job needs.
Is aftermarket glass lower quality?
We install OEM, OEE and aftermarket glass, and we explain each option so you choose. We do not make claims we cannot back up. Ask us about the options for your vehicle.
Will insurance cover quarter glass?
Many comprehensive policies cover it, subject to your deductible, and some include glass coverage for side windows. Check your policy. We are a preferred insurance vendor for all major insurance companies and can file the claim for you.
