Cadillac Windshield and Auto Glass Replacement
A Cadillac windshield can be acoustic glass, part of a head-up display, and the window for a camera. Cadillac's manual covers all three.

This page is built around the 2024 Cadillac XT6 owner's manual, because its windshield pages are the clearest we found among the brands we read. There are three separate notes about replacement, and each is a reason not to treat a Cadillac windshield as a commodity part.
First, acoustic glass. The manual has a heading for it: the vehicle is equipped with an acoustic windshield, and if the windshield needs to be replaced, be sure to get an acoustic windshield so you continue to have the benefits an acoustic windshield can provide. We will not claim more than that. Cadillac says there are benefits, and says to keep them. Matching it is another job for the VIN. If your Cadillac has acoustic glass, your replacement should too.
Second, the head-up display. The manual says the windshield is part of the HUD system, and that if the windshield needs to be replaced, a GM windshield designed for HUD is recommended, installed according to GM specifications. If it is not, the HUD image may look out of focus. A display that throws a blurry speed readout onto your glass is the kind of mistake you only notice after the work is done.
Third, the camera. The manual says that if the vehicle has a front camera sensor for the driver assistance systems, a GM replacement windshield is recommended and must be installed to GM specifications for proper alignment, or the systems may not work properly, show messages, or not work at all. Elsewhere it puts the camera sensor on the windshield behind the rearview mirror. The manual also lists Super Cruise as an available feature, and your VIN and manual will tell you whether your Cadillac has it.
Cadillac recommends GM glass in two places, and we say so openly. We install OEM, OEE (original equipment equivalent) and aftermarket glass, you choose, and we have a fallback if one is not available. We do not calibrate cameras. We refer that to the Cadillac dealer. The maker's dealer has the equipment, the tools outside shops use reach the vehicle's computer through a back door that has caused system problems, and the work calls for a controlled indoor space that a mobile job cannot give.
