Chrysler Windshield and Auto Glass Replacement

A Chrysler minivan or sedan runs a camera, a rain sensor and a wiper de-icer through the same windshield. Here is what Chrysler's manual says about each.

Good to know

A Chrysler windshield carries more sensors than it looks like, and the VIN tells us which ones.

Open the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica owner's manual and the windshield turns up in more places than you would expect. The Automatic High Beam system, the manual says, controls the high beams using a camera mounted on the windshield. It adds that dirt, film and other obstructions on the windshield or camera lens will cause the system to function improperly. So a Pacifica has a camera looking through the glass.

Then the rain sensor. Chrysler's manual has a section on the rain-sensing wipers, and one of the tips says products containing wax or silicone may reduce rain sensor performance. It is a small detail, and it points at a larger one: whichever windshield goes on your Pacifica has to carry the right sensor mounts. That is why we ask for your VIN before we quote.

Chrysler's manual has a third item on the same glass: a Remote Start Windshield Wiper De-Icer, marked as if equipped, that turns on during remote start when it is cold. The same manual, in the adaptive cruise section, tells the driver to examine the windshield and the camera located on the back side of the inside rearview mirror when the system reports limited function. We describe this to make a point. One minivan can have up to about 15 windshield versions by option package, and each of these systems can be a reason the right version is not the obvious one.

A family minivan collects chips on school runs and highway trips. If yours has one, a flat $85 repair covers up to 3 chips on the same windshield, mobile service included. We come to your driveway or your office.

After a replacement, a camera may need calibration. We do not do it. We refer it to the Chrysler dealer, because the maker's dealer has the equipment, because outside tools use a back door into the vehicle's computer that has caused system problems, and because the work needs a controlled indoor space, which a mobile truck cannot give.

We also replace Chrysler door glass, quarter glass and back glass with a free estimate by vehicle. On a back glass job we reconnect the rear defroster connections.
