Jeep Windshield and Auto Glass Replacement
A Wrangler windshield is not like other windshields, because it folds down. Here is what Jeep's own manual says, and how that shapes a Jeep glass job.
On a Wrangler the windshield is a structural part, so the right glass and the right fit both matter.
If you drive a Wrangler, you already know the windshield is not a fixed pane in the way a sedan's is. Jeep's owner's manual for the 2023 Wrangler has a whole section called Folding Windshield, with steps for lowering and raising it, including removing protective caps over the wiper hex bolts. Jeep says plainly that the fold-down windshield is a structural element that can provide some protection in some accidents, and that it also protects against weather, road debris and small branches.
That is why we do not treat a Wrangler like any other windshield job. Jeep's manual warns not to drive on the road with the windshield down, and says the windshield, wipers, side bars and hardware must be correctly and tightly assembled before driving. A cracked pane that sits in a frame doing structural work deserves a replacement that is fitted properly and not rushed. We can quote OEM, OEE (original equipment equivalent) or aftermarket glass for your VIN, and we have a fallback if your first choice is not available.
Other Jeeps are a different story, and Jeep says so in the same manual. On vehicles with adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning, the manual tells the driver to examine the windshield and the camera located on the back side of the inside rear view mirror when the system reports limited function. So on those Jeeps, your windshield is in front of a camera. We replace the glass. We do not calibrate cameras, and when a vehicle needs it, we refer you to the Jeep dealer, since the dealer has the maker's equipment and the controlled indoor space that makers call for. Outside shops reach the vehicle's computer through a back door that has caused system problems.
Cold-weather Jeeps have one more windshield feature worth knowing about. Jeep's manual has a Remote Start Windshield Wiper De-Icer, marked as if equipped, that turns on during remote start when it is colder than 33 degrees Fahrenheit. It is another reason the VIN decides which windshield fits: equipment varies, and one vehicle can have up to about 15 windshield versions by option package.
The Wrangler's removable roof is a different matter from the windshield. Jeep's manual shows Freedom Top panels and a storage bag for them. We replace windshields, door glass, quarter glass and back glass. If you have a question about a top panel on your Wrangler, text us a photo and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we do.
Out on the trail or on GA-400, a Jeep takes rocks. If it is a chip, the $85 flat repair covers up to 3 chips on the same windshield, with mobile service included.

Questions Drivers Ask
Can you replace a Wrangler windshield at my house?
Yes, we are fully mobile and come to your home or workplace. Send us your VIN for a free estimate and we will confirm the glass.
Why does Jeep say not to drive with the windshield down on the road?
Jeep's manual says the fold-down windshield is a structural element and that you lose the protection it provides with it folded. The manual also says to be sure everything is tightly assembled before driving.
Does my Jeep need camera calibration after a new windshield?
Some Jeeps carry a camera on the back side of the rear view mirror for cruise control and collision warning. If yours does, we refer calibration to the Jeep dealer, because we do not do it.
