Volkswagen Windshield and Auto Glass Replacement
The same Volkswagen model can use a windshield with a camera mount or one without. On some models there is even a heated version. The VIN sorts it out.
Volkswagen sells camera and non-camera windshields for the same model, so never order by model name alone.
Take the Tiguan. Volkswagen's own parts site lists 2021 and 2022 Tiguan windshields described as with camera. That small detail tells you something: a Tiguan windshield comes in a camera version, and ordering the wrong one means the mount and the glass do not line up with what the car expects. Volkswagen's press material says the Tiguan's IQ.DRIVE system relies on front and rear radars, a front camera and several ultrasound sensors, and that IQ.DRIVE is standard on all trims for model years 2024 and 2026.
Sound control is a trim-level story. A 2027 Tiguan press kit says SEL R-Line Turbo models have an acoustic, sound-insulating windshield, which Volkswagen credits for an even quieter cabin. So on a Tiguan the windshield for a base trim and for the top trim may not be the same part. We would rather read your VIN than guess from the badge on the back.
Heat is the third difference. Volkswagen's 2026 ID.4 press kit lists a heated windshield on AWD Pro models, grouped with a tow hitch. That is a feature of that electric model, and we are not saying other Volkswagens have it. The Tiguan kits, by contrast, mention heated windshield washer nozzles, which is a different part. Same brand, same word, two different things, which is exactly why the VIN matters.
