Acura Windshield and Auto Glass Replacement
Acura publishes a plain instruction in its owner material: after a windshield replacement, the camera should be recalibrated by a dealer. We agree, and we send that step there.
Acura itself says the AcuraWatch camera needs dealer recalibration after a windshield replacement.
Here is what Acura says. In its owner material for AcuraWatch, Acura warns that scratches, nicks and other damage to the windshield within the camera's field of vision can cause the system to operate abnormally, and that a dealer should recalibrate the camera after a windshield replacement because proper calibration is needed for the system to work. That is the maker saying it, not us. It is also exactly the step we do not do. We do not calibrate cameras.
The camera is easy to find in Acura's own descriptions. The AcuraWatch camera sits at the top of the windshield, with a radar behind the emblem. For 2025, Acura says the MDX got a new single-lens front camera with a 90-degree field of view, and that the MDX Type S with Advance Package gets AcuraWatch 360 hardware, including an updated front camera and extra corner radars. So the camera on a 2025 MDX is not the same hardware as on an earlier one, and a windshield and mount matched to your VIN matters.
The head-up display and sound control add more variety. Acura says the MDX's 10.5-inch head-up display comes with the Advance Package, projecting speed, AcuraWatch alerts and turn-by-turn navigation onto the windshield, with height and brightness adjustable. And Acura's 2022 MDX press kit says all 2022 MDX models use acoustic laminate glass in key locations, including the windshield and front side windows, to reduce cabin noise. Both change what a correct replacement looks like.
This is why we start with the VIN. One vehicle can have up to about 15 windshield versions by option package. We read yours, find the right version and give a free estimate. We install OEM, OEE or aftermarket glass, so you can choose, and we have a fallback if one is not available.
After the glass is in, we tell you plainly whether your Acura should go to the dealer for camera calibration. We refer it because makers recommend dealer calibration, third-party tools reach the vehicle computer through a back door that has caused system issues, and the work needs a controlled indoor space that a driveway cannot provide. We come to your home or workplace and also replace Acura door, quarter and back glass.

Questions Drivers Ask
Do I have to see an Acura dealer after a new windshield?
Acura's owner material says a dealer should recalibrate the camera after a windshield replacement. We do not calibrate, so the dealer does that step.
Is the glass on every MDX the same?
No. Acura describes different cameras by year and an optional head-up display, and acoustic laminate on the 2022 MDX. The VIN tells us which windshield fits.
Can a chip near the camera cause trouble?
Acura says damage within the camera's field of vision can make the system operate abnormally. Send us a photo and we tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement.
Do you do Acura door glass?
Yes, plus quarter and back glass, free estimate by vehicle.
